Salvation! You can have it too.
Salvation.
To some it is unimportant, to some difficult to understand, and to some it may sound to good to be true. People! I can assure you that this is the one thing that is not to good to be true. It is true in every way and is one of the easiest things you will ever do. The steps to accept salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ, are minimal. It can be done anywhere, on a bus, in a coffee house, in your living room. You name it Jesus will come to you no matter where you are physically or mentally he is just a request away.
You may ask why do I need Jesus? Well It is simple again, Jesus is the only one that can intercede for our sins, can step in and remove them. Jesus is the only one that can cover us from sin from the very point that we accept him he cleanses us white as snow and he intercedes for us from then on, covering our sins and short comings. Working inside of us to bring about permanent change and a refinement that is ongoing.
Are you guilty of sin? The answer is yes to each and everyone of you. We are so guilty of sin and so incapable of truly being good that God had to step in and do for us what we are not capable of doing for ourselves. That is why he sent his Son. Here is the measure that we will be judged by, how will you stand up to this what will the judgment be toward you? I bet it will be GUILTY!!!
1. You shall have no other gods before Me
2. You shall not make for yourself a carved image, any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain
4. Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy
5. Honor your Father and Mother.
6. You shall not kill
7. You shall not commit adultery
8. You shall not steal
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; wife, servant, ox, donkey or anything that is your neighbors.
If you want to read in the bible where these are given, you can turn to Exodus 20:1 – 17 and it will give you the exact text. How many of these have you broken? In the New Testament, Jesus simplified the Ten Commandments down into two commandments that wrap it all up.
1. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.
If you are guilty of one of these you are guilty of all of these. Have your ever lied? Not told the truth? How about taken anything that was not yours, big or small. Have you ever been disobedient to your Father or Mother? Committed adultery, Jesus stated that if we have even looked up on a women with lust we are guilty of adultery. Nearly everyone has coveted something? Someone’s house, possessions, big screen television, trips they go on cars, wife maybe even their family. Now if these are not enough to return a verdict of guilty than look at just the first commandment and the way that Jesus put it. Do you love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, with all your strength? How can you say yes if you have not accepted his gift of salvation through the Crucifixion and death of his Son, Jesus Christ. If you have not than you are guilty of number one right from the start no wiggle room. Judgment GUILTY!
What are the consequences of sinning against God, of being guilty of even one of these things? Separation from God and death ( eternal life in hell). Hell is real, it is torment and eternal pain, there is no escape from it once condemned there. The only escape it the salvation that is given to us by God through the death and resurrection of his son Jesus Christ. If we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and follow through on a few simple steps we to can be saved from eternal damnation in hell.
There are just a few steps that need to be taken to ensure eternal salvation. I have heard several different number of steps outlined by others 3, 4, or 5 I imagine if you tried you could make it a 10, or 12 step process to ensure salvation. I am going to outline them as I know them. Whether you take 3 or 8 steps in the process God knows your heart and that you are accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior.
Step 1. Repent, confess your sins to God and Jesus tell them that you are a sinner and that you are sorry for the things you have done and have fallen short on. Just like a regular conversation with someone next to you, have the same conversation with Him.
Step 2. Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Ask Jesus to come into your heart, declare that you are turning your life over to him and that he will be your savior. Ask him to enter into your heart now.
Step 3. You are reborn at this moment, a new creature. Cleansed of all of your sins a new person in Christ. All of your sins have been washed away. You are now a part of the family of God and redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross.
Step 4. Rejoice Publicly. Let others know that you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior. Tell others your testimony, the story of what has happened in your life and how Jesus came to be your savior. It is important that we publicly confess that Jesus is our Lord and savior.
Step 5. Be baptized. In the water submersed. This is a public testimony of the change that has happened in you. You are buried with Christ as you are submerged underwater and brought forth as a new creature a child of God redeemed by Jesus Christ when we are lifted back out of the water.
These steps ensure your salvation. They are easy and Jesus will meet you at that point where you repent and start the process to the gift of eternal salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
There are additional steps that will help you ensure a close walk with Jesus for all of your days. I will go through these steps in another post.
If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, now is the time to do it. Refer back to the steps and begin there, with a normal conversation right to Jesus and God don’t be afraid to tell Him how you feel.
